What is a Slab Leak?

Slab leaks are high-risk water leaks below the concrete foundation of a home or building. The source of a slab leak is usually from a hot or cold water line. Leaks may be small drips or large holes in a water line caused from degraded pipe material. Obvious signs of a slab leak are water puddles seeping atop the slab or flooring, hardwood floor buckling or warping, and uncharacteristically high water bills.

What Can Cause a Slab Leak?

Your Slab Leak could be caused from any number of factors that jeopardize the integrity of your pipe system.

Corrosion from Concrete

Improper Soldering

Hard Water

Poorly Installed Copper Installation

Natural Corrosion or Wear and Tear

How are Slab Leaks Fixed?

First, call Executive Plumbing & Drank immediately if you suspect you have a slab leak. Left untreated, a slab leak can cause thousands of dollars worth of damage in a short amount of time. We are on call and ready to respond 24/7 throughout Inland Empire.

Some slab leaks are simple fixes and others are large projects that can take a few days. There are 2 main repair types for most slab leaks:

Slab Penetration – Concrete penetration is made using industrial pick axes or a jack hammer in order to access the leaky pipe. Floor coverings like hardwood, carpet, tile, linoleum or laminate is removed first and may need replaced with new material after your pipe is sealed.

Tunneling – A less invasive strategy that tunnels a path under the slab to reach the leaking pipe(s). The bad pipe is removed and replaced, sometimes long sections are replaced which is called re-routing. Re-routing is usually the preferred method of repair when there is significant damage to multiple areas of the piping system.
